Endgames are where champions are made. Many players work hard in the opening and middlegame, only to throw away points due to basic endgame errors. Make sure to avoid these:

• Not activating the King: In the endgame, the king becomes a fighting piece. Use it!
• Rushing pawn moves: Pawns cannot move backward. Every pawn advance leaves weaknesses behind.
• Lack of opposition knowledge: Master king-and-pawn opposition early on.
